An Exhibition “Fluxus is Fluxus” will be presented at Klaipeda’s Book Fair

An exceptionally artistic and fun-filled 7th Book Fair will take place on October 3-5 in Klaipeda at the Ieva Simonaityte Library (25 Herkaus Manto St.). Visitors are urged to “Breathe” during the time of the fair, stop, listen and live. There will be an exceptional program of events that will include traditional events, such as meetings, book presentations and discussions, as well as an exhibition of works from the Museum of Modern Art (MO), a poetry slam, comics’ workshops, theatrical performances and Fluxus interventions.

The Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center will present their exhibition Fluxus is Fluxus in the Gerlach attic. The show will display works by famous Fluxus artists of the 20th Century, such as George Maciunas, Yoko Ono, George Brecht, Ay-O, Robert Watts, Ben Vautier, Takeshishka Kosugi and others.

The opening will take place on October 3.

18.00 The Director of the Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center, Gintaras Sodeika, will open the exhibition Fluxus is Fluxus in the Gerlach Attic.

18.30 First Station.  Benas Sarka will present Benas Sarka’s Creative Worm Works:  DJs, Fruit Flies, Jedi. Part II will take place in the hideout of the Sundial‘s yard.

19.00 Second Station. Installation Chirping Mobility in a tree at the entrance to the library, in the Sundial yard. Artist: Vladas Balsys.

19.15 Third Station. A Fluxus labyrinth in the basement near the library‘s coat check room. The exhibition will be open for only one hour a day to visitors from October 3-5. The underground exhibition will feature works by George Cason, Acefalo Miazmos, Benas Sarka, Remigijus Treigys, Vladas Balsys, Paulius Sadauskas, Valdas Manomaitis and Edmundas Lukminas.

20.15 The Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center will screen Jonas Mekas‘ film Outtakes from the Life of a Happy Man, 2012, 68 min. Introduction by Dr. Tomas Kiauka.
