2025 08 12 Alison Grace Koehler | Transparencies

On Tuesday, August 12 at 6 pm, Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Center invites you to Alison Grace Koehler  performance “Transparencies” accompanied by audiovisual artist Hugo Renard.

“Transparencies” is a live performance that fuses stained glass art with poetry and film. Artist Alison Grace Koehler invites the audience to witness the creation of a stained glass window built in real-time as both object and poem. Using discarded shards of glass, tools of the craft, and her voice, Koehler explores light, memory, and transformation. On a small illuminated table, glass is cut, shaped, wrapped, and soldered while she recites and improvises text live. A camera above her hands projects the evolving compositions onto a screen behind her, making visible every gesture. This projection is mixed live with video footage taken on a road trip from Paris to Vilnius. All video footage as well as live projection and streaming will be made and executed by Hugo Renard.
